Connecting Nature, Culture, and Community
About Us
We believe the arts are a great way to bring people to nature. Each year we have explored different themes such as air, water, fire and changing landscapes through field trips, art exhibits, concerts, speakers and films.
What We Do
Visions of the Wild celebrates Solano County’s extraordinary ecosystem through arts and education, engaging our diverse community in ecological dialogue to inspire conservationism for future generations. Our year-round activities culminate in a multi-day festival in Vallejo. The festival connects nature, culture and community, and is designed to bring together artists, conservationists, students and teachers.
Visions of the Wild works with conservation and arts organizations, other government agencies, and local schools to present varied programs of films, speakers, art exhibitions, and more.
Founder
Steve Dunsky
Steve Dunsky has written and directed films and videos for more than twenty-five years. As a filmmaker for the U.S. Forest Service, his projects cover a wide range of conservation issues. Steve spearheaded Vallejo’s Film Club, where he carefully curated an array of beautiful, independent films for over 6 years, and he’s been the driving force behind Visions of the Wild since its inception.

Steve, his wife Ann, and Aldo (their cat named after Aldo Leopold, of course) have even opened their home for community-building conversations. Everyone who has been in Steve's presence has been reminded (in one way or another) to open their eyes and senses to the beauty that surrounds them.

Visions of the Wild is possible thanks to the tireless efforts of our volunteers.
